feel it, she is back
Wednesday night, USA vs SA. I'll be honest, i've missed vuvuzela's. That mating call that makes you want to pick up the nearest plastic horn and give a low, long boooooooooop. Or perhaps a high pitched, challenging parp, parp, parp! Well, the vuvuzela's were once more heard in town and, by the time the game rolled round on wednesday, were out in full, ear-splitting force. Friends and I headed once more to the fan walk to join the throngs in the long walk to the sold out stadium. It was fabulous seeing so many supporters clad in banana yellow bafana shirts. It was even fabulous hearing a fan singing 'oh oh oohoh oh, oh oh hoh hoh hoh ho ho ho ho' of the coca cola marketing (not entirely sure that counts as singing). And I even caught myself humming along to Waka Waka. Yes, feel it, it is back. Sure the game was not great, especially the losing bit (but lets face it, USA actually qualified for the world cup, unlike us), but it was great being part of it all again. Viva soccer, viva bafana bafana!
